Myopia (short-sightedness) means that objects far away appear blurred, and Spectacles or contact lenses need to be worn to make vision clear. During early teenage years myopia commonly increases, meaning that thicker glasses/stronger contact lenses are needed.
At eye contact vision clinic we have a special interest and expertise in slowing the progression of short sightedness by use of Spectacles and contact lenses.
It is recommended children should aim to spend 2 hours a day outside, and read with bright light. Recent studies increasingly point to ambient light during concentrated tasks being a factor in myopia progressing.
